Happy New Year…….and Blogiversary!!!!

DSC_0391.2

Happy New year everyone! Yesterday marked my 4 year blogiversary! Wow that is such a big milestone and I have to say I am blessed to have been a part of our lives for these past  years! They have changed me for the better and I love being able to share my thoughts and ideas with all of you!  I have been sadly too busy to hang out here with you and that makes me pretty sad. I spent alot of time this year making gifts for Christmas and then we had a flu that just wouldn’t end. However, it is a new year and everything is fresh and ready for new adventures! Ready for new blog posts, ready for new learning, ready for new business ventures, and ready for more family fun! I dont know about you, but I love this time of year. There is something so magical about new beginnings and about starting fresh.  A whole year is just laying before us and ready. This  year I have plans for this glorious stretch of time! Plans to learn with and teach my girls as we continue our homeschool journey. Plans to love my husband as we hit 10 years of married life together (GASP! That is a LONG time)! And plans to continue learning just about everything about making amazing photography! Maybe, just maybe, I will even get good enough to start my very own little business! Who knows! What I do know is that there will be love, there will be joy, and there will be faith. I wish the same for all of you too! Happy New Year Everyone!

Coming Back with a Bang!

DSC_0128_edited-1

Well everyone, I am going to restarting this blog, giving it a new face, and some new content! I have decided that I don’t want to be solely an education blogger. I want to be a life blogger. SOOOOOO…..this is going to change quite a bit. It is going to be about me, my life with my family, and my certainty of life with a happily ever after (and maybe the not so happily ever after too). I hope you stay with me though this transition, but if you are looking for Montessori inspiration or early childhood play ideas……I may not be your girl. But if you are still remotely interested in us here, then stick around! Its gonna be fun!

Montessori Materials For Sale

Well if you happen o follow me on Facebook, you would have seen me ask about selling some Montessori Materials. I decided to sell some of the things that we are not using. Lets face it, they take up space and we have changed a lot about how we learn here. Bunny is happy with out materials, and Pup seems to march to the beat of her own drum! I am keeping a lot still, but I am getting rid of beads and stuff like that! Here are the pictures of what is for sale right now. I have listed it all on Ebay for simplicity and safety for all! If you see something you want, be sure to head over there and bid (or buy it now)! If you have questions, you know where to find me! 😉 If you want to see my ebay listings, click here. Happy Shopping!

A New Blog Adventure

Photo Shoot Edits~ landscape - Page 013Sunshine and Snapshots
I have been reading (and reading and reading) about photography and taking better pictures. Since this is my space about all the fun things I do with my kids and family, I thought that I needed a new space for the pictures and the technical bit of getting those pictures! So I created a new space to talk about photography. That way I don’t bore all of you with the details! If you want, pop by and let me know what you think. If you are good at taking amazing pictures, I would love some feed back too (yes, shameless begging). I hope you take a moment to follow me there and see what I am up to!

Happy New Year (and a Blogiversary)!

5x7 - Page 003

Happy Happy New year to you all! Last year was a good one. It had its challenges, but it also had its amazing high points! And here is to a new year filled with much of the same!  And here is to another year of blogging! Can you believe that it has been three years? Three years of sharing, of learning, of memories, and of really amazing friends from around the world! Thank you so very much for reading my thoughts, sharing my dreams, and popping by here to leave comments! All of it means the world to me as I have said before, but I mean it from the bottom of my heart!

Now that we are officially into a new year, it always make me (and most other people) start thinking about what this year is going to be. What are we going to change? What are we going to keep doing? Where do we want to be? How can we make things better? Well that depends on each person, but for me, I think that this year is bit different. I know that I need to loose weight, and I know that we can always use less technology, but honestly, those are the small things. The things that really matter are love, peace, joy, happiness….not my waist line. While I was at mass the other day we talked about being the light of Jesus. This is not a new thought, but it is one that still seemed to really make me think. Light. Light makes us feel safe, confident, happy. The light of the sun can perk up your whole attitude. The light of day makes doing things easier. And light is something that literally filters through everything making everything look clearer. So the question is, can the light of God be seen in me? Are my kids feeling safe, happy, confident, and at peace with me? Is my husband? So this a goal of mine this year. To be light to the people around me!

Another goal, that is slightly less deep, is to start Project Life. I have been scrapbooking since I was really young and it is something that means lot to me. However, keeping up is hard. I still have to finish 2012, all of 2013, and now we are heading in to 2014! Ahhhh!!!!! Project Life is a simple way to scrap as you go through the year. Basically, each week you create a page or a spread of the pictures from the week. Maybe they are the simple ones of the girls playing together or the big moments like vacation. It can have anything that shows your week! Plus you all a little journaling to remember what was going on. Simple….in theory! We shall see. Hopefully I will have a page or two a week for you to see!

Finally, my goal, as always is to encourage happy, creative learning. I love that we have a strong base of work for Bunny, but now I want to be sure that there is some good project work of her choosing to do as well. Pup needs to have a strong base and we need to make her a plan! Learning is fun and it needs to have a great place in our life. That means we are going to make it a bigger priority!

So there you have it! These are a few of my plans for this new year! Now it is your turn. What are your plans, hopes, or dreams for the new year?  It is my hope and prayer that this year is amazing for you in every way too! Happy 2014!

Random Questions

So here is a random question for all of you out there…..what do you like to see here? Do you like to see Montessori posts? Family Posts? Creative projects? Let me know! I am just curious what you like to read here! Another question I had for you is, how hard is leaving a comment on the blog? I haven’t been able to figure out if all the spam guards are making it really tedious for you! I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too hard! So if you have a moment, I would love to hear some thoughts! I am so thankful to have great readers and would love to hear from you!

Blog Update

Well everyone, you may have noticed that I have been missing in action lately! To be honest, I have been spending time scrapbooking and learning to use my new camera! I am also doing a lot of work with the blog! There are grand plans here and I am hoping to have things moving by the summer. The biggest change is that we will eventually be moving over to a new address! It is under construction now and there is a ton of work and details that need to be worked out. But don’t worry, I will make sure you all know where to go when its time to move! However, I know that these things take time. So does homeschooling, house work, blogging, scrapbooking, and many other day to day things! So if I forget to answer you back in a comment, or I don’t post for a few days, I hope you forgive me! Life it wonderful, busy, and interesting here! I will be back tomorrow with another post that is more fun to read! Here are a few pictures from our weekend!

It was busy and fun. I hope you had a Happy Weekend too!

School Days

Well this is the end of a pretty descent week! The girls were busy with all sorts of things! I thought that I would share some of their work with you all in one post! Here is what they have been learning!

Bunny and Pup started school the other day by measuring with markers! Pup had a great time hooking them together and measuring all sorts of things. Bunny then got involved too! It was a fun spontaneous learning moment!

Pup is also just starting to work with some of the moveable alphabet pieces. She isnt quite ready since she still has a hard time isolating the middle sound of a word, but she thinks its awesome to move the pieces around. She loves to pick out the sounds! She told me the other day that she needs to keep practicing letters so she can read soon!

The Easter Bunny brought some new playdough! So I set up a new tray. It amazes me how much Pup will roll, cut, and shape playdough!

Bunny pulled out her Golden Beads to do some division! I was really surprised that she chose to do it!

I also tried to do a chalk board version of the Hierarchical Material. I’m not sure that she quite got it and I dont think that this was the best way to do it. She seemed to get it, but I think it could have gone better. However, I cant afford the large material. Does anyone have an idea of how to do this?

She was so happy that she got the first problem right! 🙂

After she did one, she invited Pup to come sit with her. She asked Pup to name the numbers on the board! 😉 It was too cute!

I showed Pup a new work! She was interested for a little bit!

Pup almost has all the letter sounds learned! She is so proud of herself!

As you can see, Pup has really been busy and so has Bunny! I really hope that next week is just as good! Now I do have a bit of business stuff to talk to you about! You may have noticed that I have a few new links on the right hand side of my blog! These are my new affiliate accounts! What that means is that if you click on the button, and make a purchase from one of these suppliers, I will get a bit of sale! So here I am (shamelessly) begging you to think about making a purchase from Montessori at Home, Montessori Services, or from Kiwi Crate, then please stop here to access the site! I hope you all have a great weekend! I should have another awesome birthday party for you all to see this weekend, so stop on back! Plus there are some awesome giveaways coming up in the couple of weeks! Happy Weekend!

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Welcome to all of you stopping by from the Blog Party! I am so excited to get partying! My name is Stephanie and I am the blogger here at Discovery Days and Montessori Moments. I have two daughters, Bunny (age 7) and Pup (age 4).

I started this blog two and a half years ago as a place to record and remember all the things my girls were learning day in and day out! It has grown so much and I am amazed at the awesome community I have found! We are homeschooler who follow the Montessori Method pretty closely, but we throw in some fun Project based learning, and bit and pieces of other things as well! It is such a gift to be able to write about my day to day and when others find help in my posts, it just makes my day! I tend to make a lot of theme activities for preschool/ early elementary aged kids that are based in the Montessori Method. If you want to see some of those, you can HERE! Another thing that we love is our Continent Boxes where my girls are able to explore and appreciate other cultures! If you want to see what those look like, You can CLICK HERE! And if you are a social media guru, be sure to follow me on Facebook, Pintrest, and Twitter! The links are all on the left had side of the blog! I hope you stop back soon! Happy Blog Hopping!
