Today I want to send some love and smiles to all of the amazing dads out there! To the ones who work endless hours, get up early and go to bed late, who wake up to get the kids that are crying, who gets pizza when mom has had a hard day, who loves endlessly, and supports no matter what, we thank you all! Especially would like to thank my dad for all he has done. And I want to thank my husband for all the love that he pours into this family here. Our life is entirely possible because of the sacrifice and effort he puts into making sure we have everything we need. His love and support make me the mom that I am. He is the best dad ever and I know that my girls can talk to him and come to him for anything. It amazes me to see him with them. As I watch him, I realize that the love God has for us is bigger, and more special then we can imagine! Today is a day to be thankful for love and that I am! Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad’s out there!
Today my girls discovered the fun of dancing in the rain! It was one of those days where the rain is warm and soft and perfect for playing in! Here in Ohio it is either cold and rainy, or it is a thunderstorm. With such a perfect moment, we grabbed umbrellas and went out in it! We felt the soft splatter of the raindrops on our arms, tasted the sweet rain on our tongues, and smell the damp grass that clung to our feet! These simple moments bring joy and happiness. Although I suppose that any moment where you get to dance with an umbrella is a good one! I don’t know that Pup has played in the rain like that before (or at least not for a LONG time)! And such an awesome discovery deserves some perfect pictures!
So my question for you is, What did you discover today?
Leave your thoughts in the comments. Happy Summer Playing!
This weekend proved to be a bit one of all of us! On Friday the girls got their first prize for the reading program~ little My Little Pony figures! The girls were SO excited about them and loved picking them out at the store! They also had to write down a little bit about a book that they read this week! Bunny wrote a bit about Fancy Nancy Pajama Party, and Pup drew a picture of Rapunzel and wrote “Pumssl” at the top! They are loving all the reading and so am I!
Another exciting thing for the weekend was that Bunny was invited to her first sleepover with her friends! She was a little nervous, but so excited! She was ready to go by Thursday even though the party was on Saturday! Since Bunny was going to be off having fun, my mom invited Pup to stay the night with her! So Pup also got to go sleepover too! It was the first time that she has ever slept away without her sister there with her! All this fun for them, meant my hubbie and I were on our own! So we got to go out to dinner and have a date night! It was a lot of fun for everyone here!
Our weekend was so much fun and full of excitement! I hope that yours was too! What did you do this weekend?
Today the girls and I headed to the beach! It was a beautiful sunny 70 degrees here, so we packed a quick lunch and headed out! We played in the waves, ate sand ice cream creations, and told stories together. This last part is something that I have been doing with the girls and they are loving it! Who knew! I don’t think that I am a particularly gifted story teller, but the girls are always captivated. We have a little girl named Jane who goes on adventures! Sometimes she learns something like when she went up into a cloud and learned about the water cycle, and sometimes they are just made up like when Jane swam with her new mermaid friend! The girls love this little dark haired girl and the great thing is that a new story can happen any time no matter where we are! So today Jane built a sand castle that she shrunk to fit inside an met a princess. She climbed into a rock cave and met a hermit crab who took her to his secret beach spot. She met a seagull named Sandpiper who took her to see the ocean from the sky. And she took a ride on a dolphin with her mermaid friend! Jane had a very busy day and I had a perfect moment, laying on the beach, telling stories to my girls! I have a feeling that Jane will be with us for a while! She is connecting us through her adventures and inspiring us to greater creativity! When I tell the stories, the girls are engrossed yet offer up details to add about what is going on! We are building the story and memories together all at the same time!
Do you tell stories at home? What are they about? Do you find that it offers your family a way to connect and grow together? This is a new idea for me! I would love to hear your thoughts on this! I hope you take a moment to share in the comments!
The other day, after we talked about simple machines, we hit the hardware store. While we were there, Bunny saw some wheels and wanted them so badly! So I got them for her! Today she pulled them out to make something. It took a few minutes for me to show her how to pre-drill the holes and how to screw in the screws, but she really got into it! She was able to attach the wheels all by herself and was really proud of her rolling board! (That is what she made) Even Pup wanted to try using the screw gun to screw some screws into a board!
I love learning new things with the girls! Do you have plans to do new things with your kids this summer? How about a Bucket List? Share your ideas below!
The past week has had so many little moments that I thought they deserved its own post! The first amazing success is that Pup wrote her very first word all by herself! I was cooking dinner and she told me that she was going to draw a leopard. Nothing new there, but she came back and told me that she wrote leopard on her picture. I look and sure enough she did! She put the sounds down as she heard them and it was awesome! She has never been able to really isolate the sounds in a word yet, but I guess that changed!
Another awesome success is that Bunny is reading! Not only is she reading she is understanding! She read some of the botany books we got from the library, and when we did our lesson, she told me that she knew what we were talking about because she read it in a book! She is understanding what she reads! It has happened! She can read for real! Success!
Now….for the epic failure…the Garden is dead. All of it! (Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry). The bugs got the zucchini plants and the heat got the tomatoes and the peppers just never grew right. I tired everything. I even tried pesticide. Even the garden area with a the fence around it we built fell over and broke in the wind. Sigh….maybe we will get some started plants and try again!
(This was right before they turned brown and crunchy)
So that is what we have been doing here! Lots of little moments! I hope you are having lots of great moments at your house too! Did you have a great moment or an epic fail? Share your moment in the comments!
Well everyone, you may have noticed that I have been missing in action lately! To be honest, I have been spending time scrapbooking and learning to use my new camera! I am also doing a lot of work with the blog! There are grand plans here and I am hoping to have things moving by the summer. The biggest change is that we will eventually be moving over to a new address! It is under construction now and there is a ton of work and details that need to be worked out. But don’t worry, I will make sure you all know where to go when its time to move! However, I know that these things take time. So does homeschooling, house work, blogging, scrapbooking, and many other day to day things! So if I forget to answer you back in a comment, or I don’t post for a few days, I hope you forgive me! Life it wonderful, busy, and interesting here! I will be back tomorrow with another post that is more fun to read! Here are a few pictures from our weekend!
Today we found a true education gem in out area! It is a center that is has bin upon bins of Legos, Duplos, and Knex! For $5 an hour, the girls can come and build to their hearts content with thousands of legos! And play we DID! The girls had SO MUCH fun! We will definitely be going back soon! Bunny said we should do a family day and have dad come too! Plus we found out they have summer camps. Here is some of the fun the girls had there today!
Today spring showed itself for real! It was 60 degrees, sunny and windy! We even had our first crocus! The girls found some kites in the garage and I suggested we head out to the park for some kite flying! It was always a tradition in my family to fly kites on Easter at my Grandma’s house. Its not Easter I know, but I realized that I dont think that my girls have ever gotten out to fly them! Yikes! So off we went! If you didnt see all the ice on the lake, it would look just like spring! However, I know that it is only a tease! We will have snow again by mid week (or so they say)!
