Continent Boxes~ Europe!
I have been meaning to post more about our different Continent Boxes, but I keep forgetting to take pictures! 🙂 Oh well, better late then never! I have made all the cards by using google images. It was very time consuming, but a little more budget friendly! In an ideal world they would be 3- part cards that have words on all of them, but right now they are just pictures since I couldn’t afford to print 2 set of everything (I spent $120 as it was). I think that the boxes look pretty good, but I do view them all as an on going project. I figure that we can add to them as we go.
This is what I have in the Europe Box:
~ Pictures of People
~Pictures of Food
~ Pictures of Places
~ Pictures of Birds
~Pictures of Animals
~Pictures of Instruments
~ English Money
~ Old Spanish Money (Before the Euro)
~Old Italian Money (Before the Euro)
~Post cards of some European Art Bunny liked in our museum
~ Some little wooden cooking tool my grandpa got me when her was traveling in Europe
~ A Crucifix bought in the Vatican
This seems like alot of stuff, but I would love to get more! Europe is such a vast and varied culture that I feel I didn’t do it justice! If you have any ideas of what else to include, let me know! 🙂 Until then, Happy Schooling!

Would you like me to send you some things from England? Postcards and things like that, that are light and would not get stopped by customs would be fun for your little ones to receive. What do you think?!

I dream of continent boxes, but I’m waiting until the boys are a little older. We already have so many materials on our shelves that I hate to add more when they are still happy with what we have. I think after JR is reading well, I’ll add continent boxes. Your’s are divine. Thanks for the ongoing inspiration I get from your blog. 🙂

What about adding a miniature Tour Eiffel, an empty box of Brie and a cork from a French wine bottle (to represent France), a fan and castanets (to represent Spain),amber beads from the Baltic, and maybe info about the great European travellers /explorers? I will post another comment later if I think of anything else you could add to your box. I hope it helps. Your boxes look terrific by the way!!! Nice job!

I love this idea. It would be fun to add artists and composers with some of their work. Small postcard sized prints would work just fine and are inexpensive. It’s fun to have them look at the piece and tell you what they see, or what they think might happen next in the picture. For the music, put in a picture of the composer, a few lines of music or the first page of a piece. We have piano players in our family and start out learning the simple theme to a piece of music and a little about the composer. Thanks for the wonderful idea.

What a great idea! None of us are really very good at music, so maybe this would be a great way to learn some more! Thanks for sharing! Happy Schooling!
